Traveling to Banff with a Toddler.

*This is not a guide*

Oh hi there friends! I was originally going to write this as a short and sweet Facebook post, but it got a little lengthy.

Am I going to post artistically composed photos that I took with my camera on this blog post, oh yes.

Am I also going to put some blurry iPhone photos on this? Oh you better believe it sister. This is real life!

This past Tuesday, I decided that Harrison and I would go visit Manny in Banff while he was working. You guys, I have NEVER driven that far in my LIFE. Never the less with a tiny human who asks to pull over to pee every 20 minutes.

YOLO, am I right?

WE DID IT. It took almost SIX hours and one stop to Bass Pro Shop, but we got to Banff and were welcomed with open arms by our favorite person! As soon as I arrived, I immediately put my phone into airplane mode and only used it to take photos. No instagram, facebook, or texting, and I really must say IT WAS FANTASTIC! I got to live in every moment with my family which is something I think is so important!

Let me paint a little picture for you. The first night in Banff I did not sleep. In my mom-like naive-ness, I thought that Harrison would be a sweet sleeping angel. I was so, so incredibly wrong. He was a newborn all over again. Except a tiny Velociraptor. There was tears, there was dancing, there was running around in the dark at 2am singing to himself.

My dear, sweet husband… had the AUDACITY to wake up at 6am and say to me, “wow babe, I slept great! How did you sleep?”

I did not sleep, and by the time we met up with Daddy for lunch I had consumed at least 5 coffees. I couldn’t possibly complain though, because who doesn’t love having delicious lattes in the mountains.

I am very thankful that we got to spend this time together as a family! Manny is such an incredible Dad. It was so fun for me to watch them together in their matching Bass Pro Shops hats. They raced around the streets of Banff, played, and sang songs together.

During the time when Manny was at work, I really enjoyed watching Harrison explore and play in nature. He collected sticks and pine cones, rolled in grass. We even managed to hit up the Banff farmers market with him in our MEC carrier.

On the way home, I decided to take the turn to Kananaskis Village. This lead me on quite the detour and added an extra hour and a half to our drive home. Normally this would be pretty frustrating for me, but we ended up finding a hiking area. Harrison loved splashing and throwing rocks in the stream. He ran around, giggled, smelled plants, tasted the water and I loved every second of it. I am glad I took this detour! I really took the time to admire everything around me and really breathe in that sweet cedar scented air.

Why am I telling you all of this? Well dear friend, I really encourage you to take some time to reset. Whether that is at your home, or that is somewhere else, go do it. Spend some time reflecting on all of the things you’re grateful for because I am sure that there is so many awesome things in your life!

I truly think that it is so important to be able to reset and refocus on having such a blessed life. I am so grateful for this life, and my sweet family.

Kissin’ my man. Holding my take out.

That’s all folks. Have an absolutely wonderful week ahead
